We’ve Been Here For
Over 100 Years…
Timeline
Our History in more detail
We have been a Pentecostal Church in the City Centre of Wakefield since 1917.
In our beginnings we were known as Wakefield Pentecostal Fellowship, we met in several locations around Wakefield.
In 1924 we joined the Pentecostal Assemblies of God as a founding member Church.
In 1939 we had finally found a permanent home – Glad Tidings Hall, George St which we purchased from the Wakefield Baptist Church and moved in to shortly after World War 2 in 1945.
Over the next period at Glad Tidings Hall well known Pentecostal Evangelist Smith Wigglesworth ministered regularly here. Sadly he passed away in 1947 whilst here at the funeral of his close friend and first Pastor Wilf Richardson.
In 1984 the Church became known as New Life Christian Centre and underwent some major renovations in 1989.
In 2024 the Church became known as Connect City Church, and while we honour the past and those who have gone before us we’re believing God for great things in our future.
